It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared I lacked timing completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there Healy was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
